Gita Nagari temple is the first Krishna temple in Pennsylvania with beautiful
deities of
Sri Sri Radha Damodara. Their temple project is still developing since 1977,
time when Founder Acarya of International Society for Krishna Consciousness
established this holy place 1976.
These deities blessed the land of Pennsylvania since and in the long tradition
of first large Krishna deities They still shower Their mercy to all of you
who can appreciate Their presence.
The Deities of Sri Sri Radha Damodara descended in 1970 and began Their preaching mission by doing what no other set of large Radha-Krishna Deities had done before, They traveled from city to city in the mood of Lord Caitanya preaching the kali-yuga dharma, nama sankirtana (congregational chanting of the Holy Name) and were offered arotik from college campuses to theatre halls all around the United States. In this way, Sri Sri Radha-Damodara freely distributed Their mercy to so many fortunate souls. After the disbanding of the party, Sri Sri Radha Damodara came to the Gita Nagari farm community in Pennsylvania where they have resided ever since.
Gita Nagari farm, a Hare Krishna community in rural Pennsylvania. The name
Gita-nagari in Sanskrit means: "the village where the song of God is
sung." Farm communities like Gita Nagari are gradually striving towards
the goal of self-sufficiency, based on the philosophy of "simple living
and high thinking", as propagated by the teachings of His Divine Grace
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
